PeerPort Integrates Video Conferencing into its UC&C Service

PeerPort Integrates Video Conferencing into its UC&C Service

Far Hills, NJ (PRWEB) October 20, 2011

PeerPort, A+ Conferencing and Digital Samba today announced the integration of HD video conferencing into PeerPort’s suite of virtual collaboration services, allowing organizations and business professionals to work together more effectively. PeerPort, a leading innovator of Unified Communications and Collaboration (UC&C) solutions, A+ Conferencing, a world class distributor of conferencing and communications solutions and Digital Samba, a leader of video conferencing server solutions, have teamed to enable businesses of all sizes to take advantage of UC&C services.

PeerPort.us (http://www.peerport.us) is a cloud based offering that provides an alternative to traditional unified communication platforms. Its robust feature set includes unlimited audio, video and web conferencing, messaging, chat, calendaring, action item tracking and document management & storage. By delivering these services through an intuitive, easy to use interface, PeerPort fosters team collaboration across the entire communications spectrum, enabling the exchange of information in non real-time, near real-time and real-time. The services are provided within the context of private communities – essentially self organized, secure environments which host both members and their own content. Each community can accommodate community members regardless of their location, company or education affiliation, and membership in a community can easily be modified to reflect the ever-changing composition of a team.

Historically, companies have relied on separate and often costly investments in platform technology to realize the benefits of UC&C. This has limited deployment to only those organizations with sizable IT budgets and the requisite technical expertise to bring these disparate capabilities together. In addition, the frontier of UC&C and video conferencing has been off-limits to most, as the CAPEX investment in equipment and telepresence rooms starts in the mid six figures. “By extending PeerPort to include video conferencing without the need for special software or equipment, we’ve brought UC&C to the masses. It’s truly UC&C for everyone, as opposed to only those with deep pockets,” said Ed Chatlos, CEO of PeerPort.

“PeerPort customers tin now enjoy unlimited video conferencing for a fraction of the cost of competitive offerings, while simultaneously taking advantage of a powerful set of tools which greatly increase the effectiveness of virtual collaboration,” said Mike Burns, President of A+ Conferencing.

“Companies are increasingly realizing that they would rather off-load the financial and technical risks that come with deploying UC&C to a third party provider,” said Mike Starner, President and General Manager of Digital Samba. “Until now, however, the delivery platforms have been disjointed, resulting in multiple investments and operational management headaches. We think Digital Samba’s OnSync solution provides an efficient, elegant and easy-to-use service, and which, when combined with PeerPort, results in a comprehensive UC&C alternative to premises based solutions,” said Starner.

For a limited time, PeerPort will cost $ 99 a month for unlimited access by up to 10 users, any six of whom may access multi-way video conferencing simultaneously. All 10 can view a single person’s video transmission. For schools or companies requiring a PeerPort Community for up to 50 users, the cost is only $ 375 per month. Additional pricing tiers and advanced services are also available. “The combination of services delivered by PeerPort, coupled with industry leading price points, creates a compelling opportunity for businesses of any size to take advantage of UC&C,” said Ed Chatlos.

For more information about PeerPort UC&C, the PeerPort Network and PeerPort LLC, visit http://www.peerport.us.

VSee (http://www.vsee.com) announces that for the Lotusphere 2012 conference it will release a plugin for IBM Sametime that allows for one-click web video calling . Unlike the Skype plugin for Facebook, VSee is secure and includes HD group video chat and application sharing features. Lotusphere 2012 is being held next week, January 15-19, 2012 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. VSee will be in booth #810.

One of the themes of Lotusphere 2012 is using collaboration solutions to make enterprises more agile and social. VSee is a collaboration tool based on Stanford University human factors research that creates a more social customer experience and accelerates relationship-building in the sales work flow. VSee is designed to convey and increase trust in teams and with customers. Enterprises can embed a simple VSee web plugin on their web sites, and VSee will then link with IBM Sametime on the backend.

Created by the co-author of the XMPP video standard, Dr. Milton Chen, VSee is a managed, secure peer-to-peer group video chat and application sharing software. Its unique network sensing approach allows HD telepresence video over standard Windows and Mac laptops even when the network is poor. This has allowed IBM to deploy VSee globally to more than 50 countries and 5000 users where VSee performs exceptionally well in IBM China.

“Lotusphere 2012 is the perfect venue to release VSee web video naming. Enterprises are becoming more social and VSee brings a live face to the sales work flow,” says Dr. Milton Chen, CEO of VSee.

VSee is free for commercial and government use without support. Supported VSee starts at $ 10/user/month. VSee customers include the U.S. Congress, Navy SEALs, NASA; investors include Salesforce.com. Visit http://www.vsee.com.

Q&A: my friends won’t patronize my website. Is it me? Why?

Question by 2ThePoint: my friends won’t patronize my website. Is it me? Why?
Depressed.I built a site for freelancing present and former Big 4 consultants and other “premium” talent.I told my friend, an unemployment counselor. She won’t flush look at it. I reached out to partner with several businesses that sell products that support the consultant’s work, such as laptops, collaboration tools, etc. Won’t give any names, but they are larger than Dell, for example.I had success, and received authorization to carry their products.I talked to another friend that said he needed a job, and printer ink. Though I forwarded him the actual approval earning (showing my partnership) earlier this week, he expressed No interest in buying the ink or submitting his info on the site. I know these individuals really well, one for 6 yrs, the other for 3 years.Yet, some conversations I have with them are about other people’s successes, and patronizing other businessesWhat’s wrong? I’m told “how smart I am”, and other blah blah comments, but treated like a last resort second give “associate”.I have a masters degree (from a real school) I have certifications, but i feel like I have to beg them to flush think of me. I’ve given 2 friend examples, but there’s more, at least 3 additional examples across the country. What’s wrong with this picture? It’s obviously me, but what is it that I am not doing?

Best answer:

Answer by Alan S
The unemployment counselor may only be permitted to help people find permanent jobs, not consulting work. Self-employment is not covered by unemployment insurance. So that may be why she refused to look at it.As far as the other people, it is hard to say, without knowing them personally, their individual needs, and exactly what your website does. Perhaps they went on the website and didn’t think it could benefit them.As far as getting business from friends, I would try to give my friends my business if I could, but I would have to believe there is a benefit in it for me. My friend (and former college roommate for 3 years) is my dentist. Although he gives me a discount, I go to him mainly because I know him personally, and I know I can trust him and that he will do a good job. Dental work is a more personal service, so if I know that the dentist is honest and will do a good job (and not just because I’m his friend), that is a very big advantage. With printer ink, this is more of a commodity. Your ink isn’t going to be better than anyone else’s. I doubt that you can give your friend better service than anyone else, especially if you are just working with another business that is providing the ink. So for a commodity, you probably need to be at least just as good as your competitors to get sales, even from friends. Maybe your prices were too high. You should try not to take this personally and you should ask these people for constructive criticism on your website and ask them why they aren’t interested in using it. If these people are truly your friends, they will try to give you advice that you can use to make improvements. Also, you shouldn’t only look to your friends for business, you need to reach out to a wider area. So even if your friends aren’t interested, maybe their advice will help.Maybe you should show your website in this question, so people here can look at it and make comments.
